Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico was two weeks ago, even though fashion week in other cities worldwide was two months ago. Being late is one of the many [bad] habits that us Mexicans have; but hey, at least we have two fashion weeks every year just like the other important fashion capitals of the world do. This was the second time around that I attended fashion week Mexico [last time being in November 2012]. Last time my
gossip partners friends Alexis and Yuli came from
Tijuana and I had a great time, but unfortunately they couldn’t make it this
Day 1 of fashion week I was able to make it to two shows, Trista and Alexia Ulibarri. The first one I saw was Trista and for this I was very excited since I am a huge fan of this duo and last season I hadn’t been able to make it to their show. Trista’s f/w collection for this season was made up of very neutral colors and flowy and distressed fabrics. Black was the predominant color in this collection with a big part of their dresses and skirts being this color, but we also got to see military green jackets, and some off-white/ivory tops. The show itself was very beautiful as well. With a very cool blue lighting and birds chirping as background music, you felt very at peace.
After Trista I went into the Alexia Ulibarri show. I had never even heard of this designer before so therefore I did not know what to expect when it came to her show. I was very pleased with what she presented at fashion week. Her collection was very cohesive and very much my style. Lots of black, gray, and a few touches of camel here and there were seen in here garments. I really loved how her collection was very basic but very well made and wearable for any woman no matter her age or type of body. Also each of the models wore these tights with glitter from the knee down. I think this gave the collection a very nice touch and a special sense of cohesiveness.
Day one of fashion week was very cool because I got to see these collections from designers I had never seen live before. I also made it to day two and four of fashion week Mexico, so stay tuned for that!
